Yet just because you want to become a professional nanny does not mean that you would be perfectly suited to the position, which takes a great deal of effort and time. Nor does it mean that you will be hired by a placement agency or by a private individual or family. If you still believe you would be good at this type of work, then there are considerations and questions that you need to ask yourself.
In order to be considered an ideal candidate for a good paying nanny job, you should have recent experience in caring for a child in someone else’s home and be able to provide excellent references as well. If you have this ability, then the best way to locate a nanny position is through a nanny placement agency, as they are always looking for good, solid applicants that they can match with families that require such services.
Keep in mind that most of the nanny placement services want candidates who have recent experience in taking care of children in someone else’s home, as well as excellent, verifiable references. If for some reason your experience was too long ago and they are unable to verify your references, then there is a good chance that they will not hire you. Of course, with all of the NJ nanny jobs that are available, you may still be able to get hired by a family directly. Yet it is much easier to find a position when you are working through a good agency.
Perhaps you have been at home raising your own children who are now out of the house or at least responsible adults, and you feel that you would be qualified enough to secure a good childcare position. On the plus side, you have shown that you have been working in childcare for many years; however, since most often a nanny job requires caring for younger children, which usually entails a lot of physical stamina, then you may not have the suitable requirements that a particular family requires.
Whether it is NJ nanny jobs that you are after or one that is located anywhere else, keep in mind that working as a live in or live out nanny is a career, and not just a job. You should never treat it lightly. If you take it seriously, then you can build a lifetime of great memories, as well as having a good career.
